Every once in a while, amid dark and difficult situations, it is hard to see the light at the end of the road. In these circumstances, we must be the bearers of light and goodness for ourselves and for those around us even when we cannot see it. Even when our world is caving in and the situation, we find ourselves in is tumultuous, we must look within for the strength to carry on. We must learn to be able to create our own sense of hope even when it is not presented to us on a silver platter.
Throughout the course of our lives, we will all struggle and go through situations that we think we might not be able to overcome. However, if we hold on to our hope and to our inner light, we are guaranteed to come out stronger on the other end. We must remember that up until this point we have conquered every single battle that at one point we didn´t think we could. Lately, the future of the world has started to become seemingly bleak for a lot of us. We turn on the news and we see people dying, people suffering, and people who do not know where their next meal will come from. For a lot of us, it is difficult to consume all this information that we are constantly bombarded with while simultaneously dealing with our own problems or trying to help our loved ones through their own separate problems.
In order to be able to create our own light in times like these and to make our faith and our hope grow and become steadier, we must remember to hold on to our essence and remind ourselves of what makes our lives truly fulfilling. What keeps us going during the good times? Is it our family, our friends, our work, our passions? It´s easy to hold on to these things and to depend on them when things are smooth sailing, but dedicating time to these things on a regular basis will help us keep our inner light lit and will help us create it within ourselves when times are rocky. We must learn to practice thankfulness as a daily meditation; gratitude is the best remedy for any trying and taxing situation. During any rough patch, we may go through, we must make that extra effort to light our inner fires with what usually lights our souls, whatever that may be. The storm will always pass no matter the duration.
The great thing about light is how much it spreads – once you light your own, you are sure to brighten the lives of those around you and those you love. Negativity spreads like wildfire but positivity is also contagious if we make the effort to spread it. Slowly but surely, we´ll brighten our own worlds and make the communities we cohabit a more joyous place to be amidst all seasons of life.
