It is finally spring again and for many people, this is an exciting time filled with the promise of better, brighter days to come. The weather starts to get a little warmer but not excessively so, flowers start to bloom, the days get longer, and sunshine abounds. Springtime is a time full of awakening and rebirth. The Earth embraces all it has learned in the dark and cold of the winter in order to grow stronger, brighter, and taller in the spring. The jump from winter to spring is a drastic one visually – the dead leaves and the barren earth suddenly become distant memories as flowers begin to color our world once more. New bright blue skies edge out the greyness of the winter skies. Every ray of sunshine feels like a ray of hope. We slowly begin to abandon our cold weather in clothes in favor of lighter, more freeing attire. These sorts of visual and physical changes can cause a lot of people’s moods to be naturally boosted as they take in the natural spectacle that is spring. Undoubtedly, the seasons can have a significant impact on our moods and on our thought patterns. This is not something we should resist but rather we should work with to our advantage.
Every new season is an opportunity to reflect on our lives and what we have gone through up until that moment. Spring adds new life to the earth, and we should do well to follow its example and add life to our own lives in this time. This means we should be planting seeds in our hearts of things we want to manifest in our lives and use to color our own worlds. This will look different for everyone. Maybe some people will use this time to plant seeds of love after a winter of loneliness. Perhaps others will plant seeds of forgiveness after struggling to let go of a grudge, and perhaps others will plant seeds of self-acceptance. Others may plant seeds that will lead them to a professional or personal goal they hope to reach. After planting the seeds of the things we want to manifest in our lives, we must also remember to water them regularly and pay close attention to them. We should take care of the seeds we plant in our hearts just as we would care for a spring garden.
Spring flowers bloom from the barren earth that the winter has left. We too should learn to make flowers bloom in our lives, building upon the seemingly barren spaces in our hearts that the difficulties we have gone through have left in us. After every dark and difficult season in our lives, there will always be opportunities to grow again, to experience love and warmth again, and to flourish. Let us all let ourselves be carried away by the natural wonder that is spring and enjoy it to the fullest while also learning from it and reflecting on it in a productive way. We as humans have a lot to learn from Mother Earth and its way of constantly replenishing itself and overcoming every difficulty with grace and poise.
